me ???????? attempting to stick to a structured, monthly TBR ??????? sounds fake
No, but seriously ever since I started using the library regularly I’ve realised that I really actually have to try and read the books I get what a concept ????? lmao. I’ve never been someone who chooses monthly TBRs because I’m the biggest Distracted Mood Reader™ ever. The only time I really plan out a TBR is for readathons. I normally just have a vague idea in my head and use that as a loose guide. However, this month I thought I’d try and have things a bit more planned (good joke) and see how I go! Obviously there is NO WAY I’m reading all these books, but I’m going to try and see how many I can get through (can’t wait to have documented proof of how bad I am at sticking to TBRs 😂) This is also the first time ever my TBR has been entirely physical books??? WHO AM I???????
OWNED BOOKS
What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera – I received an ARC of this in like August and started reading it immediately and loved it so much, but then I just …….stopped? and I have no idea why. I’m definitely planning on finishing it this month. I know a lot of people haven’t enjoyed it as much as they were hoping but I’m still staying optimistic. I’m also lowkey attempting to participate in LALATHON and this is one of her favourite books.
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl – Another pick for LALATHON. I loved Night Film and the concept for this one sounds so interesting! I feel like it’s something I could read super quickly.
Meet Me at the Intersection edited by Rebecca Lim – I’m so bad at reading review books lmao. This is another one I got earlier in the year. It’s an Australian YA anthology full of #ownvoices short stories, poems and memoirs from authors who identify as first nations, poc, queer or are living with disability. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing.
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee – I just want to try and read this because I had so much fun reading The Gentleman’s Guide and I love Felicity so much!! I feel like it might not happen though just because I have to make my library books a priority.
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor – Y’all guess what??? It’s another review book that I haven’t read lmao 🚮 I received an ARC of this ages ago, but then life happened and I didn’t have time to pick it up. I loved Strange the Dreamer so much but it took me like 2 weeks to read so I think I’ve been subconsciously putting this off even though I know I’ll really enjoy it.
LIBRARY BOOKS
To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo – I’m actually reading this right now because I can’t renew it again 😂. I’m only a few chapters in so I don’t really have an opinion, but I want to keep reading so that’s good I guess?? I’ve heard good things so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Dear Martin by Nic Stone – I’ll definitely be able to read this one in a day because it’s relatively short. It seems like it’s going to be super important and I can’t wait to probably cry lmao
Bruja Born by Zoraida Cordova – I really enjoyed Labyrinth Lost but the characters fell a little flat for me, so I’m hoping they’re a little more developed in this. I love that it’s focused on Alex’s sister, Lula, because she interested me so much in the first book.
If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio – This is also a pick for LALATHON. I feel like I’m going to love this book and the entire aesthetic of it. I’m all for pretentious college/uni students and murder.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber – I was one of those people who really loved Caraval. I loved Stephanie’s writing style and the whole atmosphere. I definitely see why people had issues with it though. I think I just got really swept away in the world. I’m interested to see how I feel about Legendary and if I like it as much as I liked Caraval because I read Caraval at the end of 2016 and I feel like I’ve definitely become more critical with how I read???
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco – I’ve heard so many mixed things about this book I’m really curious to see where I stand. I have a feeling that I’ll like the concept, but maybe not the characters or romance??? I honestly have no idea.
Do you have any TBR plans or are you doing what I normally do and just winging it?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the books I mentioned!
I hope you’re all having a fantastic day.

This is a great TBR! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on What If It’s Us, I really enjoyed that one 🙂 I loved To Kill A kingdom just as well and can’t wait to hear what you think of it!! Happy reading, Lauren! 🙂

whoa that’s an awesome tbr! Can’t wait to see what you’ll think of all of them! I try to create tbr stacks each month but most often than not, don’t hold myself to it haha. One thing I’m certain I’ll be reading this month is an anthology arc I received today and I’ll be rereading Cassandra Clare’s Lady Midnight & Lord of Shadows in preparation for the upcoming release begin December. Happy reading!

I loved Dear Martin, and yes it’s heartbreaking but such an important book. I also really enjoyed Stalking Jack the Ripper. I only make TBR’s for readathons especially when there’s reading challenges involved, it just makes things easier.

I’m so bad at TBRs so I just make them as short as possible. My November TBR is literally just two books which are left over from my October TBR that was just three books long lol

Haha, that’s a great way to do it! Honestly, I don’t even want to think about all the books I’ve put on past TBRs that I haven’t read 😂

I’m exactly the same – I find it so difficult to stick to a set TBR! This one sounds amazing though! I also want to read What If It’s Us and Muse of Nightmares at some point this month.

Wow this is a packed TBR list for this month Lauren. Good luck with getting through all the books on this post, they all seem like amazing reads so even if you don’t get through all of them I’m sure you’ll love the ones you do get through. I read Muse of Nightmares and What If It’s Us recently and loved them, they were both five star reads for me. Also The Lady’s Guide is high on my TBR list for this month too actually. It’s not released in the UK for another couple of weeks but I can’t wait to finally get my hands on my copy. 🙂
Great post, good luck, and happy reading. 😀 ❤

Ahhh Neverworld Wake is so good! And I’ve just finished reading What If It’s Us! I was worried I was going to be disappointed as, like you said, quite a few people seem to have been, but I really loved it. ❤

Good luck with the tbr. I’ve basically given up on setting them now cause I can never stick to them haha. Hope you end up enjoying To Kill a Kingdom. I was surprised by how much I loved the book. I still need to read Strange the Dreamer let alone Muse of Nightmares haha. I can’t wait to read your thoughts about these books. Happy reading.

Thanks, Lois ♥ I’m honestly so bad at them too. If it wasn’t for the library books I don’t think I’d be doing it either, but this year I think I’ve returned more library books unread than read 😂 so I’m hoping this motivates me a bit more, haha. I just finished To Kill A Kingdom and I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed it??? Wasn’t expecting that at all, haha.

Lauren! First of all, I’m so happy to see you blogging again, I definitely missed your blog posts! Sorry I haven’t been around sooner, but with house renovations and other stuff going on this is the first time I replied to comments in two months *oops*. Hope to be around more regularly from now on though!
All the luck with your TBR! I really liked To Kill A Kingdom, Stalking Jack The Ripper and The Lady’s Guide so I hope you’ll enjoy them! And What If It’s Us, I REALLY need to get to it soon…
