I Do More Readathons Because I Have No Chill // #ReadersCrossing & #HolidayAdventureathon TBRs

DTBR

Hey folks because I have absolutely no chill and like setting myself up for impending doom in addition to Sapphicathon and #LoveOzYA Bingo I’m going to partaking in another TWO readathons. Obviously, I’ll be using a lot of the same books because I’m not a complete masochist (at the moment). Sorry for any repetition!!

I also created Spreadsheets for both these challenges because I’m EXTRA AF

Reader’s Crossing // Holiday Adventureathon

Readers Crossing is a readathon that is based on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. It’s being hosted by Aentee @ Read at Midnight and is running from 10th Dec – 31st Dec. You can find all the information here.

Saga, Vol. 7 (Saga, #7) Wonder Woman Vol. 4: Godwatch The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us, #1)

Flying Lessons and Other Stories A Shadow's Breath

I decided to choose the Sporty theme! Mostly because it was the easiest for me, but I’ll just pretend I went with it because of my intense love for watching football.

Graphic Novel or Manga || Saga Vol, 7 by Brian K. Vaughn & Fiona Staples – I love this series so much I can not wait to see what happens in this volume! I’m also terrified though.

Superhero || Wonder Woman, Vol 4: Godwatch by Greg Rucka & Liam Sharp – I read Vol 2 in this run earlier this year and quiet enjoyed it. This series is weird because you don’t read the volumes in order. Don’t you love how much comics make sense 🙃

Main Adventure Plot || The Abyss Surrounds Us by Emily Skrutskie – Since I messed up the Sapphicathon reading dates I’ll be reading this for that too! It’s about a girl who hunts sea monsters so if that’s not adventure then I don’t know what is!!

Written by a Team (2+) Authors || Flying Lessons edited by Ellen Oh – This is a collection of short stories that are all written by diverse authors.

Set in the Wilderness || A Shadow’s Breath by Nicole Hayes – The characters in this book are trapped in the wilderness and I love a good survival story.

The Holiday Adventureathon is being hosted by Jasmie @ Novel Thoughts. It’s a Holiday inspired readathon that requires you to choose your own path on a map (which Jasmine designed herself because she’s amazing ???) and follow various challenges. It’s running from the 13th Dec – 24th Dec. You can choose a team (Reindeer, Santa, Elf or Penguin) and earn points. You can find all the information here, follow @adventureathon for fun things like sprints and watch her video below:

As you can tell I’m pledging my allegiance to Team #holidayreindeer and I’ve poorly attempted to draw the path I’ll be following! These are the books I’ve chosen to read:

The Martian Ash The Gallery of Unfinished Girls

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories The Bell Jar

Santa: A Book with Red on the Cover || The Martian by Andy Weir – Don’t ask me how long I’ve been reading this book for. It’s not even because I’m struggling it’s just life keeps getting in the way. I’M DETERMINED TO FINISH IT BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.

Wish: A Fairytale Retelling || Ash by Malinda Lo – A F/F Cinderella retelling. Yes. Please.

Naughty: A Cover Buy|| The Gallery of Unfinished Girls by Lauren Karcz – I don’t do cover buys so like always I’m interpreting this to “A Pretty Cover” which this book definitely has. It’s super aesthetically pleasing. I love the design layout, the flamingo pattern – everything!!

Jolly: Holiday in the Title || My True Love Gave to Me: 12 Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins – I originally wasn’t planning to read this book at all, but it’s the only one that fits the challenge that I’d kinda be interested in plus there’s a short story from Laini Taylor in here so at least I know I’ll enjoy one of the stories, hahaha.

Reindeer: A Classic || The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath – I’ve been reading this book forever too and again it’s not because I’m not enjoying it. It’s more the subject matter. I just need to be in the right head space because of what’s going to happen.

For the “Presents: A Book that was a Gift” challenge I’ll be choosing A Shadow’s Breath (because I won it in a giveaway) and for the “Cookies: Read a Book while Eating a Festive Food” challenge I’ll be reading whatever book I decide to at the time.

Are you joining in any of these readathons?

Do you have an out of control TBR for December like I do? Let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you’re all having a fantastic day!

  1. I don’t really join readathons too much, but I have to tell you, Lauren, your FANTASTIC spreadcheets are making me want to join, just so I can use them hahaha.
Best of luck for these! 😀

  2. Oh wow good luck with both of these Readathons Lauren. 🙂 I’ve never participated in one myself but some of the themes and the designs make me really want to (one day, I always say one day I’ll try one.)
I really hope you enjoy My True Love Gave to Me. I read that last year as my Christmas read and despite not normally enjoying short stories I did really enjoy that collection (also from what I remember of it Laini Taylor’s story was incredible). Also it seems like even though your TBR list is out of control for December it’s going to be a fun one! 😀

  3. This is the first I’ve heard of the Holiday Adventurethon, and it looks so cute, and different from other readathons I’ve seen? I hope you end up completing both readathons and finish up all the books you’ve picked for yourself! And I hope you enjoy Saga and Wonder Woman, and The Abyss Surrounds Us! (I hate how comic books make no sense order wise, it’s the reason why I haven’t gotten into it, which makes me sad!!)
