#Sapphicathon & #LoveOzYA Bingo TBRs

December TBR.png

Me: Okay, Lauren. Ease yourself back into reading and blogging.
Also Me: Time to participate in 2 readathons and set an extremely ambitious TBR that I’ll never be able to get through.

sapphicathon

Sapphicathon is a bingo styled readathon running from the 14-28 of December. It’s centred around books that have F/F as the main pairing. You can do as many or little challenges as you want the only rule is that the F/F relationship isn’t a side pairing. It’s being hosted by TashaAmelieEliseJamieson, and Miriam. You can find out more details here and follow @wlwreadathon on Twitter.

Far From You Ash The Gallery of Unfinished Girls Echo After Echo

BISEXUAL MC || Far From You by Tess Sharpe – This is a thriller that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now! It’s about a girl who’s dealing with a drug addiction and her best friend dies and everyone thinks she was reason why.

SF/F || Ash by Malinda Lo – A Cinderella retelling that focuses on wlw? Yes thank you. Cinderella has always been one of my favourite fairy tales so I’m excited to see how this is!

Under 500 Ratings on Goodreads || The Gallery of Unfinished Girls by Lauren Karcz – Too be completely honest I’m not really sure what this is about? It seems very vague in the synopsis! I just know that it’s about a girl who’s in love with her best friend and mysterious art keeps showing up? I think it’s fabulism. I know this might not be super romance-heavy so I’m not sure if it counts, but?? It’s all I have, haha.

Jewish MC || Echo After Echo by Amy Rose Capetta || This is another mystery that’s about a girl who gets her dream theatre role, but then people keep turning up dead and I’m all about that. Plus her LI is described as being “mysterious” and having tattoos so I’m sold.

LoveOzYATBR

The Reading Room is celebrating a month of #LoveOzYa and one of those things include a bingo challenge of reading Aussie books! You can find all the details and rules here!

Breathing Under Water When Michael Met Mina Hostage
In the Skin of a Monster A Shadow's Breath Carousel

YOUNG AUTHOR || Breathing Under Water by Sophie Hardcastle – I got this as an ARC forever ago and I REALLY need to read it. I’m the worst. It’s a contemporary that focuses on siblings and mental health.

MARGINALISED PROTAGONIST || When Michael Met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah – I’m honestly mad at myself for not having read this because it’s so relevant to issues that Australia is currently facing. It’s about a girl who’s Muslim that meets a white boy whose father is the head of a political party that is against refugees and immigrants and wants to “stop the boats”.

FREE SPACE || Hostage by Karen Tayleur – The title pretty much says it all. A girl gets taken hostage. I’ve been wanting to read this forever because I loved Karen Tayleur’s other book Six.

Small Town || In the Skin of a Monster by Kathryn Barker – This sounds super interesting because it’s about a girl whose identical twin sister killed 7 kids in a school shooting. It seems like it’s going to be super intense and possibly have a great plot twist which I’m all about.

2017 Release || A Shadow’s Breath by Nicole Hayes – I won this in a giveaway earlier this year! I had mixed feelings about Nicole Hayes other book, but this one seems like a survivalist story and I’ve heard good things so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

BONUS: Set in Your State || Carousel by Brendan Ritchie – Okay I’m so excited about this one!?!!? I found it thanks to Jamieson @ jamishelves and it’s about a group of teens trapped in a shopping centre THAT I SPENT MY CHILDHOOD AT. I can’t believe there’s a YA book set in Perth and one that actually takes place somewhere I’m familiar with. It’s inspired by Tomorrow When the War Began so I’m guessing there’s going to be some kind dystopian undertones because apparently they’re trapped for days turning into weeks so!!

sep

I honestly doubt I’ll get through even half of these books but I’m going to have fun trying.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the books I’ve chosen.

Are you participating in any of these readathons? Let me know!

  1. Ahh, both of those readathons sound great! Good luck!

ASH is really lovely❤︎ It’s been years since I’ve read it, but it’s one of my absolute favourites. All of the books on your TBR look great, I’m gonna have to hunt them down 🙂

  3. A shadows breath is one of my faves I haven’t read Hayes other books because I dont think I’ll love them but that one surprised me so much and the themes are hard to read sometimes (abusive step dad) but it’s so well written. Ash sounds fantastic! I just added it to my tbr a cinderella retelling with f/f!! YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU XD Hope you have an epic December Lauren I have managed to rein myself in and only sort of participate in the #loveozya bingo but I’m mainly trying to read all my review copies I have backed up so I can go into 2018 having none.

  4. Good luck trying! These readathons sound like so much fun. I wish I could participate but – life, kids, hubby, scary attached feline. It takes all my time to just get through one or two books a week!
