As the kids would say: prepare to be shook reader fam

I don’t care if my books are in prime condition. I prefer when they’re not.

I’m 100% not one of those people who love their books to look constantly immaculate condition. I mean I get it and that’s cool, but I love when books look used and well read. Give me broken spines and worn covers. My hardcover edition of Order of the Phoenix has the entire spine missing and it’s one of my favourite books ever. Whilst I’m dropping bombshells I also don’t care about dogearing pages. I use bookmarks now, but only because I’ve acquired them from publishers and book depository otherwise I’d probably still be dogearing. Obviously I would never dogear a library book or someone else’s book though.

I prefer reading ebooks to physical books.

Pretty self explanatory. I love buying physical books and having them in my possession, but when it comes to reading – ebooks are my jam. I find them so much easier to read and they are a million times more convenient. Except when your Kindle dies halfway through a chapter and your charger cord doesn’t reach your bed.

I have to be reading multiple books at once.

I wish I could dedicate my entire attention to one book at a time, but I can’t ??? I need to have multiple books on the go in order to not get distracted. It’s also because I’m a huge mood reader so I need a bunch of different genres.

I don’t care about owning multiple copies of the same book.

I’ve found that a lot of people are constantly seeking out every edition/ARC ever of books and that’s so not me???? There’s a few exceptions with this like I really want the Hufflepuff edition of Harry Potter, but otherwise I’m totally fine with one copy. I love receiving ARCs, but I don’t go out of my way to hunt them down.

I’m terrible with series.

The amount of series I’ve actually finished is TERRIBLE. I don’t even know why, but I have SERIOUS comittment issues when it comes to series. It’s either because I get distracted and wait way too long between each book or I don’t want them to end. I STILL HAVEN’T READ CROOKED KINGDOM BECAUSE I’M SCARED AND IF I DON’T READ IT THEN NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN OKAY. 😰😰

I’ve never DNF’d a book and I don’t know if I ever will. 

Yep, you read that right. Maybe it’s because I’ve only been reading properly again for under two years, but it’s mostly because I’m stubborn as HELL. I am definitely not against DNF-ing. I totally respect and understand the concept. Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying. However, for me, the only time I think I’d ever DNF a book is if it was extremely problematic. I LIKE TO SUFFER.

I’ll sometimes like posts without reading them.

Sometimes when life hates me or if I see a post that I don’t think I can add anything of value to I’ll like it without reading it. Does this make me a terrible blogger? I don’t know. I just feel like it’s a nice way to be like “hey I support you and this post”. I’ll also do this for reviews of sequels or books I want to go into not knowing anything.

I don’t have a blog schedule and I don’t schedule posts in advance.

Okay the second part is half true. Sometimes I WILL schedule posts, but the most is like a day or two in advance. I have no plans when it comes to this blog. Most days I write posts on a whim. I never have any idea what I want to post.

I am TERRIBLE at replying to follow up comments.

THE LITERAL WORST AND I AM SO SO SO SORRY YOU FOLLOW A HUMAN TRASH CAN AND I’M TRYING TO GET BETTER OKAY. I like to think I’m alright at blog hopping and commenting on other’s posts, but I am so bad at replying to people who have replied to me. I’m sorry!!!!! I’m trying to be better.

Original content and reviews are my kryptonite.

I TRY SO HARD BUT IN THE END IT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER BECAUSE I’M STILL HORRIBLE AT BOTH. At first I used to get really down that I couldn’t come up with amazing discussion posts like a lot of other bloggers, but I’m slowly getting better at accepting it now. I try to make sure that all my tags/lists ect. are as unique as possible. I like to think I put enough of myself into them to make them interesting enough to read. Right?? RIGHT????

The first thing I notice about someone’s blog is their theme. 

Maybe it’s because I love design or am all about the aesthetic life, but if someone doesn’t have a clean/nice looking theme with an easy navigation system then chances are I won’t be following their blog. Ultimately, of course your content is the most important but if I can’t navigate your blog to find said content then? I feel like this is often something people forget about. You don’t even have to have anything fancy. Like I’m not expecting everyone to have paid themes and professionally designed graphics (because lol I’ll never have that) just take a few extra minutes to go through all the available themes and have an easy to navigate menu bar.
