My Autumn TBR || Top Ten Tuesday

ttt1

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This Week’s Theme: Ten Books That Are On my Autumn TBR

sep

Well, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve participated in a TTT. I wasn’t even going to post this, but I was inspired by everyone else’s post so here we are! My TBR is insane so there’s a ton of books I haven’t mentioned here. These are just a handful of upcoming releases or backlist books that I’d like to get to! Obviously, I changed Spring to Autumn because #SouthernHemisphereLife 🇦🇺.

Fun Fact: The first TTT I ever participated in was for your Spring/Autumn TBR! I’m not even going to look at that post though because I guarantee I read none of the books on it 😂.

The Upside of Unrequited Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2) The Love Interest The Wanderers

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli – I finally read Simon Vs this year and I adored it to pieces. I can’t wait to experience more of Becky Albertalli’s amazing writing. This also comes out the day before my birthday!! So Happy Birthday to me!!!!

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo – After falling in love with Six of Crows last year I’ve been hesitant to pick up Crooked Kingdom because I’m TERRIFIED. I need to just bite the bullet and read it already.

The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich – If you’ve been following me for any amount of time you’ll know how much I NEED THIS BOOK. Cale Dietrich follows me on Twitter and he’s super rad (we had a discussion about MySpace once!!!) and I just need this book in my life???

The Wanderers by Meg Howrey – This is apparently similar to The Martian but with more a sci-fi twist? A group of astronauts are getting ready to leave for Mars and all this weird shit starts happening during one of their training simulations. Can we also talk about how stunning the cover is?

One Of Us Is Lying The Inexplicable Logic of My Life Vicious (Vicious, #1)

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus – I have an ARC of this! I LOVE YA thrillers SO MUCH. I really want to read more thrillers/horrors this year. This is supposed to be reminiscent of The Breakfast Club (which confession time: I’ve never seen) where a group of teenagers are in detention and one of them ends up murdered?

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Saenz – Another book that I have an ARC of. I’ve heard that this book has some problematic elements which breaks my heart a little, but I’m interested in reading it for myself and seeing what else it has to offer.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab – I actually had a dream the other night that I was reading this book so if that’s not a sign I don’t know what it is. Now that I’ve finished the Shades of Magic series I need more of Victoria’s writing in my life and plus this is about superheroes, kinda, which YES.

History Is All You Left Me The Hate U Give Queens of Geek

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera – I read More Than Happy Not this year and I’m still not over it. I’m ready for Adam Silvera to break my heart all over again. SIGN ME UP.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – This is gonna be one of the most important books I’ve ever read and I can’t wait. It’s inspired by #BlackLivesMatter and I know that it’s going to teach me so much. The reason why I haven’t already read it yet it is because I’m waiting to have enough money to buy a physical copy.

Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde – Again, like with The Love Interest, you’ll know how excited I am about this book. I am so so so so excited. I’ve heard so many positive reviews that have got me all 😍😍😍!!!!

  1. I cannot wait for The Love Interest! Just can I have it now? THUG is brilliant, I cannot even begin to explain. I read it over a couple of days, cause I just cry a lot. But so good.

    Thanks for the post!

  2. Crooked Kingdom is a must. Trust me it’s such an epic conclusion to the series and the crew are all so fabulously complex. I can’t get enough of them.
I’m still in a book coma from A Conjuring of Light but Vicious is definitely a book that can fill the void. 😛 The cat and mouse chase between the characters is intense, fast paced and all kinds of morally ambiguous.

  3. I read a ton of horror, paranormal, steampunk, thriller, etc… so One of Us is Lying looks great to me. The Love Interest also looks interesting though I’m not much into romance unless it is the backstory within a thriller, etc. Enjoy your books! I’ll be interested to come back and see what you thought of your choices.

    1. I’ve heard some good things about One of Us is Lying so fingers crossed! I’m not normally huge on romance either, but I’m hoping The Love Interest will be different because it’s supposed to poke fun at a lot of tropes which should be good 😀 Thank you!!

  4. Don’t google anything when you are reading Crooked Kingdom. I googled something related and the search suggestions spoiled me. Ugh.
You have a great Spring TBR!! I’m gonna read Vicious too!

  5. You have such an amazing TBR! Crooked Kingdom, History Is All You Left Me, and THUG are each so, so amazing! I hope you enjoy them. The Upside of Unrequited is on my TBR too; I absolutely adored Simon vs., so I’m sure I’ll love The Upside of Unrequited just as much.

  7. Aah, this is such a great list! I LOVED both Crooked Kingdom and History Is All You Left Me, so I hope you’ll enjoy them too. And I’m so with you on The Love Interest, I CAN’T WAIT 🙂 And I can only nod excitedly about every other single book on this list – it’s looking to be a great few reading months up ahead!

  8. *squeals and flails arms* THAT COVER OF THE WANDERERS IS SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL, I CAN’T EVEN. I haven’t even read the Martian yet (I really should le sigh), but this one sounds wonderful – I’ll definitely be adding it to my TBR. Crooked Kingdom was really very good – it’s painful, but in a good way! The Hate U Give was one of my favorites of last year; I really hope you love it as much as I did!

    1. RIIIIIIGHT!!!! I NEED a physical copy for completely shallow reasons 😂😂 I actually haven’t read The Martian either, haha. I’ve started to like 5 times but then something comes up? What I’ve read so far has been pretty good, there’s lots of wit and sarcasm but also a ton of extremely detailed science-y stuff that has gone over my head a bit. I loved the movie though!! Ahh I’m so nervous but excited for Crooked Kingdom and I know I’m going to find The Hate U Give amazing.

  9. I got very confused when I saw you called this post your Autumn TBR list, then I remember you’re in Australia and it all made sense again! 😀 I tend to think most people I talk to on WordPress is over here in the UK with me. 🙂
Anyway these are some amazing books Lauren, I’m really excited for The Love Interest as well. I finally got around to pre-ordering it the other day and now I’m really excited for it to be dispatched and delivered to me. It sounds just brilliant doesn’t it?
Also I really hope you enjoy Vicious and History is All You Left Me as well. Both are truly amazing and unforgettable books, in two very different ways though of course! 😀

    1. 😂😂😂 I figured it might cause some people some confusion! It’s okay, I always forget that things like timezones ect. exist.

Thank you 😀 Ahh I should really pre-order it too. I’m so bad at that stuff though. I don’t think I’ve ever pre-ordered a book except for Harry Potter back in the day. I want a copy so badly though I should probably get onto it!

I feel like I”m going to love them both so much ♥

      1. I did think for a split second you were already planning your TBR list for Autumn, or Spring where you are I guess, before I realised.
That’s all right, ❤ and oh I'm the opposite, I will pre-order everything because that way I actually remember the books are being released. I never would if I was just buying them as and when they were released! 🙂

  10. I really want to read The Love Interest but I rarely read new books so I doubt that will happen anytime soon. 😂
I also want to read One of us is lying and I want to see what I think about The Inexplicable Logic of my Life as well. And The Hate U Give and Queens of Geek. Everything on this list, really. 😅😅

      1. Backlist books are easier to find second-hand, which is good cause I don’t like spending money. 😂 I also always feel like I’m more interested in them? All the new releases sound kinda meh to me, they’re alright but not worth paying the price of a new book for. 😶

  11. GREAT choices! I really want to read The Love Interest and One Of Us Is Lying. I just finished Queens of Geek a few days ago and absolutely LOVED that book. It was so much better than I thought it would be and ahhhh, I just loved it. I’m reading The Hate U Give right now, although I’m not very far into it yet. But so far, it’s just as good as I thought it would be!

  12. Great TBR, Lauren! Pretty much all of these are on mine too with the exception of Crooked Kingdom and Logic since I’ve already read both of them. Which I so can’t wait to see your thoughts on Crooked Kingdom when you read it! Also on The Love Interest, The Hate U Give, and Queens of Geek as I’m really looking forward to reading those three when I get the chance. 😊

      1. You’re welcome! And YAY! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Queens of Geek. I keep hearing such great things, I’m going to have to try to squeeze it in next month if I finish the Shades of Magic books. 😁
Lol well I really do hope CK ends up surprising you. 💕

  16. Ha! I got all confused when I read Autumn reads 🙂 I know I know why now. I want to get to The Upside of Unrequited NOW. As soon as I finished The Inexplicable Logic of My Life [which is AWESME so far] and the Hate U give. Hope you enjoy your books. Great list. I want to read them ALL 🙂

  17. A few of these are high on my priority list as well – esp The Hate U Give, I just don’t like the Australian edition so I’m gonna order the US hardcover online 😀 Also, as you know – I’m not a big thriller reader but One of Us Is Lying sounds so intriguing & I’ve just added it to my TBR! Thanks for the awesome reccs, as usual ❤
