The 10 Longest Books on my TBR

I’m one of those people that get terrified by page numbers. I consider anything over 400 pages extremely intimidating. The fact that the longest book I’ve read is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix pretty much says everything you need to know. I know a lot of people aren’t affected by this and I envy you, but it’s not something I’m ever going to be look over. Reading on my Kindle does help because I don’t have to physically see the book, but it’s still at the back of my mind. I’ll never be able to “just ignore it”. That said, I am slowly getting better at reading big books and I try not to let a page number deter me if I find the plot interesting.

So, here are 10 of the longest books that are currently on my TBR!

    

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo || 1,463 PAGES – Okay, so I’m not sure if I’ll ever read this, but I want to try! I went through a phase were I was obsessed with the Les Mis movie or well I was obsessed with Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks so I was like I HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!!!! Then I realised how big it was and I was like …okay, maybz later. I did try like 5 times back in the day, but just couldn’t stick with it.

Under the Dome by Stephen King || 1,074PAGES – There’s so many Stephen King books on my TBR and I want to read them ALL, but they just look so big and so dense it SCARES ME. I went through a phase were I was in love with Britt Robertson so I kinda obsessed over the show for a while, but then I just stopped watching??? I find the concept really interesting though.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson || 867 PAGES – I saw this on a YouTube video and thought it sounded really interesting! It’s like a sci-fi with an apocalypse and space stuff. I don’t know too much about it, honestly. BUT SPACE!!!!

11/22/63 by Stephen King || 866 PAGES – Not surprisingly, there’s another Stephen King book on here. I added this to my TBR for several reasons. One of them actually being that one of my favourite celebrities (don’t judge me!!!) Ashley Tisdale was reading it and said how much she loved it. Also, I love the concept of alternate history.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin || 835PAGES – So….. I don’t know if I’ll ever read this book 😂 High fantasies intimidate me all on there own no matter what the page count so. I also just don’t really care about Game of Thrones anymore? Which is the reason why I added this to my TBR. I stopped watching in like season 4? I dunno.

The Passage by Justin Cronin || 766 PAGES – When I added this to my TBR I had NO IDEA that it was about vampires?????? I remember thinking the summary on Goodreads sounded really interesting. I love the A Bunch of Strangers are Connected trope. Then like way later down the track I saw that it was about vampires and I was like WAIT WHAT. Anyway, I picked up a copy of this at a library sale so hopefully I’ll read it soon. Maybe. Who knows.

Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow || 731 PAGES – Yes this on my TBR because I’m Hamilton trash. Lin-Manuel Miranda used this book as the basis to the musical so naturally I need to read it. That said, I know NOTHING about US history. When I was at school all we learnt about was a very Euro-centric history of Australia. Hamilton made me want to learn more and that’s one of the reasons why I loved it so much.

  

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara || 720 PAGES – I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of this book. Everyone says that it’s extremely devastating and that makes me want to read it even more, but IT’S SO BIG. I do wanna read it at some point though.

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill || 720 PAGES – Well, it’s not Stephen King but it’s his son. So. I’ve heard good things about this and I really want to read Joe Hill because I did enjoy what I read of Heart Shaped Box before I had to put it on hold. I don’t really know what it’s about? But everyone says it’s creepy so I’m sold.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski || 686 PAGES – This is one that I’m actually SO EXCITED about reading. I FINALLY have a physical copy and whilst it is intimidating I also can’t wait to get started with it. Everyone says this really messed with their heads and I hope it has the same affect on me. This book is also kind of mixed media with heaps of different weird formatting.
