Unfortunately when it comes to release dates, albums aren’t like books or even movies. It’s impossible trying to find out when and what’s going to be released. Albums are constantly pushed back or put on hold or dropped with no warning. However, that said, here are some artists that I hope release some new music this year! A couple have been confirmed, but the rest are all TBA. There’s a ton of bands I didn’t talk about because I could have been here all day and I wanted to try and find some that were at least a realistic possibility of happening!
5 Seconds of Summer

Sounds Good Feels Good is honestly one of my fave albums. It was such a huge step up from their self titled debut. 5SOS where pretty quiet last year except for a few tours. I don’t know if they’re gonna release anything this year, but I’m hoping we at least get some new songs. I am so so so ready to hear how they’ve developed their sound.

Nothing’s been confirmed, but I’m dying for new music from All Time Low. It’s been a couple years since Future Hearts so I really hope they give us something new this year – even if it is just a single. I’m super curious to see how they’re going to progress their sound. I love the homage they did to their older releases in Future Hearts and I hope their new album follows a similar direction. Alex has occasionally tweeted about being in the studio so [fingers crossed].

I was extremely impressed by As It Is’ debut album Never Happy, Ever After and I’m really excited to hear their sophomore album and see how much they’ve grown as a band. I absolutely love the songs they’ve released from okay and I can’t wait to hear the whole thing!!

I found out about Bebe’s music because she was playing Warped last year. Not that I was actually at Warped 💔, but I love checking out the line up (and crying) and listening to artists I hadn’t heard of. I immediately fell in love with Bebe’s song I’m Gonna Show You Crazy and loved her EP. I’m so excited to hear an album from her! She does A LOT of collabs with established artists so I guarantee you’ve probably heard her on the radio.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows about Ed Sheeran returning from a year off and blessing us with TWO NEW SONGS. Everyone’s going crazy over Shape of You, but I think Castle on the Hill is my favourite. Either way, I’m so excited that Ed’s back and is going to be releasing his third album this year. He recently revealed the tracklist on Twitter and then the release date! March 3rd can not get here quick enough.

Fall Out Boy

It’s been three year since Fall Out Boy came off a 4 year hiatus and made had the biggest meltdown of my life. They did release an album in 2015, but I’m extremely greedy and need more. There’s been nothing said about new music except for the band telling a crowd at Reading festival that they’d be back with some soon. A girl can dream though, right? I’m hoping soon is soon and not “hiatus” soon. Honestly though, I just want to see this band live. IT’S BEEN 12 YEARS.

Halsey [2017]

In my opinion, Halsey is one of the most important people in music right now. She’s a biracial, bisexual feminist who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and voice her opinion. She’s openly spoke about her experiences with bipolar. People hate her for the most riddiculous reasons, but she’s still out here kicking ass despite everyone trying to drag her down. Halsey confirmed on Twitter that she’ll be releasing new music this year and I might have screamed when I saw the tweet. I CAN’T WAIT. Badlands is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard and I can’t what to see what she creates next.

The Maine [2017]

Last year The Maine released an 8 part documentary chronicling their journey of making their 6th album. I’ve been a fan of the band since 2007, but that documentary series is what made me fall in love with them as people and musicians. I highly recommend watching it if you’re a fan of their music. They didn’t sugarcoat anything and it was incredibly honest. It’s been so wonderful seeing them grow over the years. They’re one of the bands I love that have changed the most, but also stayed true to themselves. I’ve been dying for this album ever since it was announced last year. John is so creative lyrically and I can not wait to hear what this album will sound like.

I know nothing about this album except for the fact that Fearless Records confirmed it was going to be happening in their “Coming in 2017” video. It’s Mayday Parade though so I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic.

Paramore

Whenever they decided to release it this will be Paramore’s first album with just Hayley and Taylor (although ex-member Zac Farro did record drums for them, so that’s cool). It’s been sad watching Paramore dwindle down to a two piece, but I admire Hayley and Taylor for sticking with it. Hayley’s tweeted a bit about being in the studio and I’m just really excited to hear this album and see what they’ve been working on.

Quite possibly my most anticipated album of the year (if it’s released this year). Pvris are one of my favourite bands of all time and it’s been almost three years since their debut album White Noise was released and it was an actual work of art. They’re one of the most unique sounding bands I’ve heard in a really long time. Plus I’m totally in love with Lynn Gunn. Not much has been said about the album except for when Lynn tweeted saying we should listen to a certain track whilst watching “Babies, Toddlers & Power Wheels compilation” on YouTube….. so that’s interesting. I really hope we get this album this year because I am DYING for new Pvris music.

I would love new music from State Champs! Their sophomore album came out 2 years ago, so it’d be great to get something new! I absolutely love their music so much and I really enjoy what they bring to pop punk. I don’t think there’s been anything said about if they’ll have a new album out this year, but like with a lot of the other bands on this list I hope we at least get a new song or two!! Their last album was amazing and I’m so excited to see what they create next.

Omg! We have such similar music taste. 5sos is my favorite band, I saw them last year play SGFG it was amazing, as always. I hope they release something this year! Also goes for ALT (I love Future Hearts it’s my jam), FOB – they’re my childhood band I saw them perform when I was 12 and then I saw them right after the hiatus. Also, the Maine, Paramore and Mayday Parade!! They were my go-to bands in high school and middle school! I listened to Ed’s music and honestly I thought he could do better. I love Castle on the Hill but I do miss his old music like Lego House.

Yay!!! Ah, that’s so cool!! I saw 5SOS in 2015 but they hadn’t released SGFG at that stage and I’m dying to hear some of those songs live haha. Soo jealous that you’ve seen FOB. I couldn’t make their shows pre-hiatus and then when they got off hiatus they skipped my city when they came to Australia 😩. Lego House is such an amazing song! It’d be so great to get some ‘+’ styled songs on the album.

I like a lot of the artists that you mentioned! Especially Ed Sheeran and Halsey. I’m so excited for Ed’s new album! And I agree with you, I think Castle on the Hill is the better of the two singles. And I really can’t wait for more Halsey music to listen to. I loved her first album and hopefully her next one will be just as amazing.

Yay! I’m definitely so excited for those too. I’m surprised at how soon we’re getting Ed’s album. I thought we’d be waiting longer. I’m really interested to see how Halsey’s album is going to sound in comparison to Badlands!

I agree about Ed Sheeran, I thought the album would be released nearer the end of the year but I’m really happy it’s only in a couple of months.

I haven’t heard of some of these bands but there are others than I am so so excited to hear more of. I’ve listen to some of Bebe Rexha’s tracks and really loved them so yes I need more from her, and the same with Halsey as well. I had her album on repeat for days when I finally got around to downloading it on my iPod.
Oh I had a Fall Out Boy induced meltdown when they released their new album after their hiatus. They’re literally my all-time favourite band and I listen to so many of their songs each day on my way to and from work. I know anything else they release is going to be a favourite of mine no doubt about it.

Yay! I really loved Bebe’s EP. It seems like she’s gone in a bit more of a pop-style but the EP had a little bit of pop rock vibes to it which I loved. Halsey is amazing!
I remember so clearly when FOB announced they were off hiatus. It was so overwhelming because it came out of nowhere and they released a new song at the same time. I think I listened to it for like 2 weeks straight, haha.

I think I’ll just love anything she releases, no matter what style of music it is. She has an amazing voice, and the same with Halsey as well.
I remember it as well. It seemed like they announced they were off hiatus and released a single, album and tour dates within the next few weeks. We went from having no Fall Out Boy to more than we could handle! 😀

Ah, so many great bands and artists and it would be AMAZING if they had some new music in 2017.
I think I’m most excited for Ed Sheeran’s new album – I’ve been listening to Castle On The Hil almost non-stop since it was released. I hope he’ll do a tour soon so I may finally be able to see him live someday because that would be a dream come true.
Fall Out Boy is one of my all time favorites, so yes I would more than welcome any new music by them. Their comeback a few years ago was so amazing and I still can’t get enough of them. I’ve seen them live like 3 times and I just keep falling more and more in love with their music.
I discovered PVRIS this year and love their album so new music would be awesome! Paramore, All Time Low and Halsey would be great as well! I’m not that familiar with the others but I will be checking them out 🙂
