Make Me Read It Readathon

Thanks so much to everyone who voted in my Make Me Read It poll! I had so many more votes than I expected and it’s been so fun watching the results change. In case you’re confused by this post I’m participating in the Make Me Read It Readathon! It’s hosted by Val @ The Innocent Smiley and Ely @ Tea and Titles. It’s a readathon where YOU GUYS were able to choose what I read! The readathon is running from July 9th – July 16th. To sign up and for more information be sure to check out this post.

I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but I wanted to give you guys a Top 5 just because I think it’s really interesting!

The votes were all pretty close. There was only 2 votes different between 1st and 2nd. The books from 3rd-5th were extremely close – there was 1 vote in between them and only 2 votes between 5th and 6th.

As a refresher here are the books that you could have voted on:

I will definitely be trying to read both Cinder and The Book Thief during the readathon (but we’ll see because it’s only a week long and they’re both reasonably sized). Then if by some miracle I have extra time (LMAO), I’ll read Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and so on and so on. I’m super excited and it’s seriously about time I read these.

In case you’re interested here’s the rest of the results:

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo || 21 Votes
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard || 18 Votes
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski || 16 Votes
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz || 16 Votes
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson || 14 Votes
Red Rising by Pierce Brown || 12 Votes
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin || 7 votes

I was honestly surprised by the votes!! I really thought Throne of Glass was going to be #1 and that Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe would have been in at least the Top 5!

If the books you voted for didn’t make the Top 5 then don’t worry!! I’ll DEFINITELY be reading them sometime soon.

Maybe.

Hopefully.

Let me know any thoughts you had on the Top 5 books! Did you vote for Cinder? Or did any of the books you chose make it?

Good luck with everyone who’s joining in on this readathon! Thanks again to everyone who voted ♥

I hope you all have a fantastic day xx

  1. Sounds like a great list! I really didn’t get on with Red Rising, one of the few books I’ve abandoned recently.

  2. I love the drumroll hahaha

I’m so excited for you to read The Book Thief! It’s one of my favourites, and I love seeing people read it for the first time. I liked Cinder when I read it, and I absolutely flew through it. I’m really surprised Throne of Glass wasn’t at the top though!

    1. Thanks, I couldn’t help myself 😂😂

I’m definitely going to be reading The Book Thief after I finish Cinder even if the readathon’s over. I’m really excited to read both of them!! I know!! I honestly thought Throne of Glass was going to be #1 by so many votes, haha.

I saw this and breathed a sigh of relief! Some of my fave books didn’t make it in the top 5 😦 Enjoy Cinder and Simon Vs! I loved those too ^_^

  4. I will admit to playing the drumroll before scrolling down to see the number one pick (it really made me laugh as well!)
I am so glad Cinder made it onto your list (and number one as well, that is really impressive!) The Lunar Chronicles is one of my all-time favourite series so I really hope you enjoy that book!
Also I’m kind of surprised that some of the books you picked didn’t make it into the top five, I did think I’ll Give You the Sun would have been higher because everyone seems to love that book, and it seems to be a big on in the WordPress community as well!
Still I hope you have fun with your read-a-thon! 😀

    1. Haha, yay!!! I honestly couldn’t help myself 😂 I’m really excited to read Cinder! It’s about time, haha. I hope I love it as much as everyone else does.

I know! I thought some of the hyped ones would have been a lot higher or even the hyped blogging ones like I’ll Give You the Sun. It was really interesting to watch the results.

      1. At least this way you won’t have a really long wait for any of the books in the series given that they’ve all been released. For me the wait between Cress and Winter was unbearable, I think it was about two years!
Oh I was shocked about I’ll Give You the Sun, everyone on WordPress seems to love it, but I guess you had loads of good books on your list for this, we couldn’t vote for all of them! 😀

  5. Boooo!

Well, I do love The Book Thief and I think you will love it as well. It’s an easy read and very memorable, enjoy!

All these choices were excellent, Lauren. You have amazing taste in books 😀

  6. You’re so funny, that drum roll hahaha
I read Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and after you are done with this readathon, you NEED to pick it up. It’s the fluffiest cutest read ever and I read it extremely fast, you could probably finish it in one day with nothing else to do.
Cool choices for the readathon though! I haven’t read Cinder either, but I’ve heard mixed things and I’m afraid to pick it up. I hope it’s awesome and that you enjoy it.

  7. WHATTT??? How did Aristotle and Dante get such a pitiful amount of votes?? (I voted for it.) Well at least you’re reading Simon… Actually, every book of that top 5 is a good read (though I have yet to read The Book Thief.) I love these types of polls, don’t you?? I would do one myself but I’ve read too many popular books for the results to be that interesting. I think 😛 I don’t know, but it sounds like fun!!

  8. Happy reading! I love pretty much every book in your top 5, so I hope you’ll enjoy them! Weird that Aristotle and Dante was not in the Top 5, but I’m sure there’s still plenty of time to read it at a later date 🙂
