Lauren Attempts Another Readathon // Summer Biannual Bibliothon

Biannual Bibliothon

So along with the Make Me Read It Readathon (go vote if you haven’t!!) I’ve decided to participate in the Summer Biannual Bibliothon. The Biannual Bibliothon is hosted by a ton of different Booktubers. It runs from July 3rd-July 9th. There’s 7 Challenges and you can use the same book for two challenges. For more information and links to all the hosts and other social media – check out the Biannual Bibliothon’s YouTube channel and the video below.

My TBR

Like always my TBR is just going to be a loose guideline. This is really ambitious and there is zero way I’m going to read 5 books in a week (especially when 2 of them are over 500 pages). I barely make that in a month 😂 but still I’m giving it a go because I have become addicted to readathons! They’re honestly so much fun. I don’t even care how many books I read. I just love being involved.

Covers = Goodreads

Challenge 1: Read the Group Book and Challenge 6: Read a Book from an Author You’ve Never Read Before

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan MatsonThe Biannual Bibliothon also works as a Book Club and there’s a book that’s chosen as group read for everyone who’s participating. This time around it’s The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. Since I’ve never read a Morgan Matson book before (yep, you read right) I decided to double up these challenges! I’m excited to read this, but also intimidated because 1) it’s a contemporary that doesn’t focus on death and murder and 2) it’s over 500 pages. I’ve heard wonderful things about Morgan Matson though so fingers crossed I enjoy it. PLUS THERE’S DOGS SO.

Challenge 2: Free Choice/Wild Card and Challenge 4: Read a Book With Your Favorite Mythical Creature

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. SchwabThis is kinda of a cheat, but there’s no books on my high priority TBR with mythical creatures and in the challenge video witches were suggested as an example and I mean the Shades of Magic series deals with magic? And it’s almost like it’s an entity of its own. So that totally counts right? RIGHT? Okay good. I’m glad we all agree on that. Anyway, I finished A Darker Shade of Magic a couple of days ago and it DESTROYED MY ENTIRE BEING. My review should hopefully be up soon so I won’t say too much, but I loved it so so so much. I can not wait to read A Gathering of Shadows because I know I’m going to absolutely love it. Out of all the books I’m choosing for this readathon I know that I will 100% be reading this one.

Challenge 3: Read a Book of the Host’s List of Recommendations

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

All the hosts of the readathon gave a list of books that they recommended and we had to choose one of them to read. I decided on Emma @ emmabooks suggestion which was More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. If I get to this I’m really excited because it’s a LGBTQ+ book which I really want to read more of. I’ve also heard so many wonderful things about it! It has sci-fi elements too which I’m suuuuper excited about!!

Challenge 5: Read a Book You’ve Been Putting Off Picking Up

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan

Honestly, this could be just about every book on my TBR 😂. I’m not even sure why I’ve been putting Saga off because it’s a comic series so I’ll be able to read it SUPER quickly. I read the first issue and enjoyed it but for some reason never finished the rest of the volume? I’ve heard amazing things about it and it seems so unique and interesting. Fiona Staple’s art is amazing too so I’m excited to see more of that. I’m sure I’ll love this!

Challenge 7: Read a Book in a Different Format than You Usually Read

Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata Challenge 7 is to read a book in a format that’s new to you. The main one being reading an ebook if you normally read physical books or vice versa. Comics and graphic novels were also given as examples. The only types of books I haven’t read are audiobooks and manga. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to an audiobook (I totally understand why people love them, but they’re not for me) so I decided that I’m going to try and read some manga! This resulted in a ton of Google searches finding ones for beginners. I decided on Death Note because I watched a few episodes of the anime like YEARS ago and I enjoyed it plus it has elements that I’m really interested in (also ngl another reason is because Dan and Phil have talked about it before so…). I’m really excited to give something new a go! It’ll probably take a bit to get used to the right-left reading style, but once I do I think I’ll be able to knock these out as quickly as I can graphic novels and comics.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about any of these books! If you’re participating in the Biannual Bibliothon make sure to let me know and leave a link to your TBR post if you have one!

Hope you’re all having a fantastic day xx

P.S I feel like such a bad blogger at the moment. I’m so behind on posts and comments. Real life is still pretty hectic. I know you guys all understand, but I just wanted to say something because I miss being able to read all your posts. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

    1. Thank you!! Readathons are a lot of fun as long as you don’t put too much pressure on yourself to read everything, haha. I was wary of doing them too, but now I’m obsessed. I definitely recommend giving one a go. And I’m really excited to read Death Note! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊

      1. Yeah I’m nervous about pressuring myself but I’m at the cottage next week and all I do is read there anyway so might as well spice things up and participate in a readathon !

  2. Ooh, good luck Lauren! I really hope you get to read A Darker Shade of Magic 🙂 and of course, I think you’ll love Death Note too! It can be hard to get into at first, but you can definitely finish it quickly once you start.

      1. HAHAHA. Oh man, you’re going to love it. A friend of mine bought me the actual Death Note notebook years ago as a present, and I haven’t written a single name in there.

          1. Really?? 😀 I literally am so scared to write a name down. Like I know it’s not real, and no one’s going to die, but I just can’t.

  4. YAS, I’M GLAD THAT YOU LOVED ADSOM! Definitely read AGOS – I loved it a bit more than the first book and I’m hopeful you will as well. ❤

Also hope you like More Happy Than Not! I really enjoyed that book but the story took a while to keep me going. 🙂

  5. I’ll be reading More Happy Than Not sometime in July! Let’s compare thoughts, feelings, and reactions after we both read it. 😀 I know this book has gotten quite a lot of hype, but I think it will live up to it.
And yes, you definitely have to read Saga. I assumed you had already read it. Do it!

  6. I feel terrible because my vacation is making it super hard to read posts and leave comments!
But if I don’t get around to a post I’ll bookmark it and look at it in a few weeks. Just so you know I’m not skipping anything!
I hope you have fun with all the books and challenges. I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on all of these, especially More Happy Than Not.
Good luck with Death Note! I love the anime. 😀 I still hope you don’t become otaku trash haha. x

I’m so excited to read Saga. The worst thing about reading and finishing AGOS will be the wait for A Conjuring of Light 😂 Thanks ♥!!
