3 Days, 3 Quotes – Part 2

I was tagged by the lovely Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books like a million years ago to do this – better late than never right 😂 Make sure to go check her blog out!!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days
  • Nominate three bloggers each day

Anyway, since I’m still on a The Raven Cycle kick guess where this quote is from?

“But it’s only your origin story, not your final destination.” – The Raven King, Maggie Stiefvater

This really, really resonated with me. I find it really inspiring. It’s something that I’ve been reminding myself every day since I read it. I might not be in the best place right now, but it doesn’t mean it’s always going to be like this. I just have to keep pushing through.

#AnonymousBookaholics Tag

I was tagged to do this by the amazing Izzi @ Ravenclaw Book Club. Go check out her post and blog because it’s fantastic ♥

So what is the Anonymous Bookaholic tag about?
Basically, the AB community is a group of readers who share their experiences with a very common problem… namely, BIBLIOPHILISM.

There is a series of book related questions and I will do my best to answer them.

What do you like about buying new books?

Uh, clearly from this blog you can tell that I like nothing about buying new books. I’m kidding, I know you’re shocked. It’s not like I make my love of buying new books known or anything 😅 Anyway, to actually answer the question… Uh, EVERYTHING! I mostly love FINDING the books though – exploring the shelves is my favourite thing. I love that the book is mine forever. I love being able to hold it in my hands and stare at the pretty cover. The new book smell ect.

How often do you buy new books?

Once again, you guys obviously know that I NEVER buy new books.

Bookstore or online book shopping – which do you prefer?

I’m so happy that online book shopping is a thing because it allows me to buy books that aren’t otherwise available to me, which considering I live in the middle of nowhere is a lot, haha. Nothing beats an actual bookstore though. I could spend all day in one. They’re just so magical.

This is just one section of the many rooms! I stole this from my sister’s Instagram. Shh. Don’t tell her 😂

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

I haven’t really had a chance to explore many bookshops because like I said I live in the middle of nowhere and when I make trips to the city I don’t usually have time to explore so I just go straight to Dymocks. There is a really cool used bookstore about 20 minutes out of my town though. I’ve done paranormal investigations there and the owner has an insane collection of used books. Some are extremely old too. There’s like five rooms of wall-to-wall shelves with stacks-on-stacks of books. Every time we go out there I find something new. It’s amazing.

Do you preorder books?

Surprisingly……. no. The only books I’ve ever preordered were books 5-7 in the Harry Potter series. If I’m highly anticipating a release I’ll just buy it on my Kindle.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

Book buying bans – Are they something for you?

This goes for the question above too. The best thing about being an irresponsible adult is that no one can tell me what to do with my money 😊

How big is your wishlist?

Well there’s like an actual insane amount of books on my Goodreads TBR. Like insane. I’ve been accumulating it since 2010 so that’s 6 years worth of books. That said, I don’t have a desire to physically own ALL of them. I currently have 3 books in my cart at Angus & Robertson and I also want to buy physical copies of The Raven Cycle series. So 7? I don’t know. I’m more of a spur of the moment buyer in case you couldn’t tell 😂

Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own NOW?

GEMINA

GEMINA

AND GEMINA

People have ARCs and I may have actually started crying. I wish I was kidding.

Tagging?

Oh man, I DON’T KNOW. I feel like everyone has done this. If I tag you and you’ve already done this or don’t want to ect. then pls feel free to ignore it! My sieve like memory and I are so bad at remembering who’s done what.

    1. It’s so great ❤️ And yes! Used book stores are the best. I’d love to be able to explore more of them. I have limited options in my little town, but I try to buy as many books as I can from there 😊 And even if I don’t buy anything I love just exploring the shelves because you always find something new!

  3. I loved reading your answers! I also love that quote you pick. I haven’t read The Raven Cycle yet but I just took out the first book from the library today so I should at least start it soon. 🙂 Thanks for the tag! I’ll try to get to it in the next few days 🙂

  4. I don’t really preorder books too. Well I’ve only preordered a handful, but getting it a few days before the actual release day isn’t that exciting.
I like buying books online too, but because they are cheaper hahaha. I try to buy books at bookstores, but WHY SO EXPENSIVE COVER PRICES!

  5. I LOVED that quote, granted The Raven King had so many amazing ones but this was definitely one of my favourites as well, and I completely agree with you about it being really inspiring too.
I am constantly overbuying on my budget for each month toom for me I try to maintain a limit but yeah it doesn’t seem to exist in my mind. I’m putting myself on a book buying ban for the first time ever over the course of the next month and a half. I’m not sure how it’ll go but hopefully well, there aren’t really any pre-orders I’m desperate to get my hands on yet 😀

      1. I just favourite all the quotes on Goodreads 😀 and I think I have for pretty much every quote in The Raven King so far!
I’m gonna give it a go, not sure how well it’ll work but hopefully it’ll help my overspending over the past few months.
