Firstly to all the amazing mothers out there

whether you’re a birth mother, step mother, guardian, a mother who’s lost a child or hasn’t been able conceive, a child with an absent mother figure or even a dad ect. this day is for you and you are all equally important and valid. my stepmum has been part of my life since I was 2 and to me she is my mum. I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Once again, this has been a bit of a weird week for me. I had a doctor’s appointment the other day about my mental health and that always throws me. Waiting rooms are the actual worst. I’ve spent most of this week reading The Hidden Oracle and listening to The Maine’s Forever Halloween album (they’re one of my favourite bands and you should check them out).

For some reason whenever I’m typing these wrap up posts I immediately forget everything I’ve done? I mean not that much is done 😂 but still.

Anyway, THIS IS A THING THAT HAPPENED and I am really overwhelmed

Shout out to my Target store for miraculously being up to date on new releases. I managed to resist buying A Court of Mist and Fury, but obviously I did purchase other books so does that count as self control? I’m going with yes. The Girl on the Train has red page trimmings which is like 90% of the reason why I bought it, not even going to lie. I’ve never owned a book with coloured page trimmings so now I do, yay! I mean I do also want to read it, haha. I’ve already finished The Hidden Oracle and it was PERFECT. Seriously, it was everything I wanted and more. I am in love with Apollo. The book hangover is beyond real. All I want to do is reread the Percy Jackson books or books with Greek mythology. Even though I had zero plans to read it this month The Hidden Oracle left me seriously wanting to read The Song of Achilles so that could be happening, haha. I mentioned in my Intimidating TBR tag that I’m super excited for The Outliers because even though the reviews haven’t been great YA thrillers are my weakness. I picked up used copies of The Odyssey and The Iliad from my local markets and I’m super excited. I had them both on my Kindle, but now I have physical copies! And they were only like $5 so!

Shadow and Bone was $5 so I was like: “why not”. I spoke about The May Queen Murders in my May TBR post and I’m so excited and I can’t stop staring at how gorgeous the cover is. I’ve been meaning to read These Broken Stars forever and I heard it’s being made into a TV show? So I need to read it before that happens! Also, you all know light contemporaries aren’t usually my thing but THE DOGS and everyone’s love for Morgan Matson convinced me to buy The Unexpected Everything.

So, like I said above The Hidden Oracle left me with the biggest need to read The Song of Achilles. I’ve heard great things about it so even if I don’t get to it this month I can’t wait to read it! I’m a huge fan of all things dark and thrillers and The Girl in 6E was only $6 so again I was like “WHY NOT!”, haha. I’ve been wanting to read Rat Queens for some time now and I’ve seen lots of great reviews recently so I decided to finally get it!

FREEBIES / FOR REVIEW

The Neverland Wars and Vassa in the Night are from Netgalley. I’m so weak for Peter Pan retellings I had to grab The Neverland Wars, I’m hoping it won’t disappoint! Ever since I finished The Raven Cycle series I’ve been in the mood for more weird, magical realism and Vassa in the Night sounds like it’ll give me both so I grabbed that too! The Prophecy of Shadows and Curse of the Sphinx were free offers from the authors (Michelle Madow / Raye Wagner) via their websites for signing up to their newsletters. I’m not sure when I’ll get to them but they were both on my TBR and free so like I’m going to say no???
