Top Ten Tuesday: #7

ttt

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This week’s theme is Ten Bookworm Delights. However, since everything I can think of has been said by almost everyone and I can’t think of anything interesting, I’m changing it up!

My Theme: Ten Delightful Bookish Blog Posts

I wanted to highlight some wonderful and fun posts from all the lovely people I follow that I’ve seen over the past couple of weeks! I actually want to start making this a regular feature so I guess this is also a trial run, haha. Make sure to obviously check all these blogs out and give them a follow because they’re all so wonderful.

READING = FREEDOM AND FREEDOM = NO BOUNDARIES

Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels talks about how Reading = Freedom And Freedom = No Boundaries

A brilliant discussion post about how you shouldn’t let age affect the genres you read. Astra always posts brilliant things. I love this one because as a 26 year old who primiliary reads YA and whose favourite series ever are classed as MG this is something that’s close to my heart!

Why Being on a Book Buying Ban is Strangely Awesome

Madeline @ The SFF Bookshelf talks about why being on a Book Ban isn’t always a bad thing

Booking Buying Bans are something I’ve seen discussed all the time. It’s something we all struggle with and cry about. Madeline has a really unique take on the subject and talks about all the POSITIVES of being on a book buying ban! I have only ever seen people mention saving money, but Madeline brings up a whole list of reasons why “being on a book ban is strangely awesome”. I’m also all about sharing the comic love, so whilst you’re on Madeline’s blog stop by her Do You Like Comics? post!

GERMAN SPINES ARE WEIRD

Izzi @ Ravenclaw Book Club has an interesting discussion on German Book Spines

I found this topic so incredibly interesting! I had absolutely no idea this was a thing and this is why I love the blogging community because you all make me aware of really interesting facts. Go check it out! Also again, Izzi, I’M SO SORRY YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS.

Diversity Is Not A Trend

Nazahet @ Read Diverse Books shares some amazing Diverse blogs and websites

The title of this post is “Diversity Is Not A Trend” and I couldn’t agree more. I’m always trying to educate myself and broaden my knowledge on these subjects. I know I have a long way to go, but I’m going to keep learning everything I can. Nazahet shares a great list of blogs and websites that help spread the Diversity message. Speaking of spreading the diversity message Nazahet’s blog is a beacon of information and diversity. Highly recommend it.

The Trouble With Tags and Pingbacks

Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books makes an extremely helpful post about WordPress’ Pingback feature

This post is so helpful to anyone who is new to WordPress or isn’t sure how to tag people properly! If you’ve ever had someone skip your tag post then this could be why! When I first started this blog I had no idea what “Pingback” even meant, never alone how to use it. Pingbacking is an annoyingly easy thing to do, but trying to find out how to is not very user friendly. Fortunately, Jill came to the rescue! Jill also has an incredible post about author’s who need to write query letters. I didn’t even know this was a thing. Despite not being a writer it was super informative and interesting.

Series vs. Standalone

Jorelene @ Page Chronicles discusses Series Vs Standalones

An age old debate, but I just love the way Jorelene writes. It makes a frequently talked about topic seem very new and refreshing. She brings up great points on the pros and cons of each format. Definitely go share your opinions!

Recipe for a 5-Star YA Novel

Ash @ Ash & Ink explains her Recipe for a 5 Star YA

Ash posts an absolutely wonderful infographic full of fabulous things that all YA books should entail. She also goes on to further discuss each point more in depth and I couldn’t stop furiously nodding and crying out “YES” the entire time I was reading it. So many excellent points are brought up!

Not Finishing Books

Reg @ She Latitude talks about DNF-ing books

Another topic that is frequently discussed in the Book world, but like Jorelene I absolutely love the way Reg writes. She makes the topic seem new and refreshing and brings up so many excellent points! She highlights books that she’s least likely to DNF. Reg’s blog is full of wonderful discussions and reviews and I’m sure most of you are following her already, but if not go change that!

So You Want To Make Graphics And Edit Photos But You Don’t Have Photoshop

Lila @ The Bookkeeper’s Secret gives Tips on how to make Graphics without Photoshop

As a former digital media student I was fortunate enough to acquire the Adobe suite. However, most people don’t have access to it. Lila shares her tips and resources on how to make graphics and edit photos without having to touch the program. I’m 99% sure everything on the list is free! I even found some new links over there so if you’re a newbie to design and want to start learning then go check it out!! I know most of you are experiencing a soon to be summer break, so what better time to start learning something new!

10 things book buying addicts do.

Casey @ adoptabookaus lists 10 things Book Buying Addicts do

If you’re like me, which I’m sure 99% of you are, and constantly have no self control when it comes to buying books then you will love this post. It was so fun and I couldn’t stop laughing. You will scroll through this post and be able to relate to probably everything Casey lists.

  2. Aww, thank you for mentioning my posts. 😊 I found out some more info on the pingback issue that I’m planning on sending out for everyone. Apparently, there’s an issue with secure vs. non-secure WP URLs, which is very frustrating for those using the paid version of WP.

    1. Yay! Thanks so much Beth 😀

Ohh man 🙈 I binge read the 2nd and 3rd book the past few days before the release so fortunately they’re still fresh in my mind. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise. Tbh, I’m extremely lazy so I’d probably just Google the book summaries 😂
