BOOK TAG: Burn, Rewrite, Reread

Burn, Rewrite, Reread Book Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful Larkin @ Wonderfilled Reads and Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros, thank you so much! Go check out their posts here and here. Make sure to follow their blogs if you’re not already!

I’ve been seeing this tag around a lot and it looks like so much fun.

Rules:

  • Randomly choose 3 books (Tip: Use the “Sort > Random” option on your Goodreads’ Read shelf.).
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (a lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill).
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds (or five).

Covers = Goodreads.

ROUND ONE

Perfect by Sara Shepard Harley Quinn (2013-) #17 by Amanda Conner Captain Marvel, Vol. 2: Down by Kelly Sue DeConnick

BURN: Perfect – I loved the Pretty Little Liar books so much when I first read them, but like there’s 592 books in the series now so I’m sure missing one won’t hurt 😉 And I also don’t think I’d enjoy it as much now if I ever re-read it and I don’t plan on continuing the series so!
REWRITE: Captain Marvel, Vol 2: Down – I did enjoy this volume and I love Captain Marvel but I only gave this one 3 stars and I’m pretty sure I gave the rest 4 and I couldn’t not choose Harley for the reread option. So.
REREAD: Harley Quinn (2013) #17 – Obviously I’m gonna go with Harley for this. It wasn’t even a question. I love her and these comics so much.

ROUND TWO

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling The House of Hades by Rick Riordan The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys by Gerard Way

What Hayley said. NEXT.

ROUND THREE

Battleworld Secret Wars Journal #1 by Prudence Shen Spider-Woman (2015-) #1 by Dennis Hopeless The Babysitter III by R.L. Stine

BURN: Battleworld Secret Wars Journal #1 – I hated the whole Secret Wars event and this series did not capture my interest at all. There was only one story in it that I liked othewise I would have probably given it 1 star. I have no plans on ever reading more issues.
REWRITE: Spider-Woman (2015-) #1 – I love Spider-Woman, but I still don’t know how I feel about Jess having a kid. I don’t want kids and it was great seeing another woman (even if she was fictional!), openly admit that she didn’t want them either. I’m also not enjoying this volume as much as I enjoyed the last one.
REREAD: The Babysitter III – I LOVE THIS SERIES SO FREAKING MUCH! It is EVERYTHING. I remember getting all the books from my school library repeatedly. I really want to re-read them again.

ROUND FOUR

A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan Say Her Name by Juno Dawson The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

THIS TAG WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN WHY IS IT HURTING ME LIKE THIS

BURN: A Living Nightmare – I hate myself for this. I loved this book and The Vampire’s Assistant movie and I really want to continue with the series. It’s so much fun, but there’s absolutely no way I could burn the other two.
REWRITE: Say Her Name – This book was perfect and I wouldn’t change a single thing except making sure IT NEVER ENDED.
REREAD: The Perks of Being a Wallflower – This book is super important to me and I really need to reread it. I just need to prepare myself emotionally for it because it really hits me.

ROUND FIVE

A Haunted House by Virginia Woolf Beautiful Malice by Rebecca James The Death Cure by James Dashner

BURN: A Haunted House – I’m sure I just insulted so many people and I really apologise. I totally appreciate Virginia as a classical writer, but this story was not for me.
REWRITE: The Death Cure – To be perfectly honest I was SO tempted to choose this book for burn because I hate the ending with a fiery burning passion, but I did enjoy the rest of the series and if I get to re-write it then I can easily fix the issue I had.
REREAD: Beautiful Malice – Like I wasn’t going to choose one of my favourite ever books for this option. This book MESSED ME UP. I actually really want to re-read this, but it’s just so hard trying to fit re-reads in with my insane TBR. Hopefully I can get to it soon!

ROUND SIX: (because I skipped Round 2)

Frostbite by Richelle Mead Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

BURN: Gone Girl – I know a lot of people loved this book and I thought I was going to as well, but I didn’t. I hated all the characters and I gave it 3 stars, but I should have given it 2. I’m impressed with myself for finishing it, but I actually wish I didn’t because the ending made me want to throw it across my room.
REWRITE: Frostbite – I loved this book, but a certain spoiler-ish thing happened that made me cry and I would definitely change it. I shamefully haven’t finished the series yet, but hopefully soon.
REREAD: Illuminae – I’m sure no one is surprised by this, haha. I think I mention in every single post on my blog how much I love this book.

I tag:

Vivian @ Inked in Pages

Beth  @ Betwixt These Pages

Becca @ Rebecca Reads

Kai @ Black Cat Kai

and anyone else who wants to do it!

If you’ve already done this/don’t want to this then that’s fine! I’m really behind on posts so I may not have seen if you’ve done it already.

  1. Oh god, girl. I don’t know if I can do this! HOW CAN I DO THIS???
I need to raid your shelves because your horror collection is a thing of beauty. Totally adding a few of these to my tbr, regardless of your choices ;3

    1. Haha! If it’s too much pressure feel free to pass 😉 I thought it was going to be fun until Goodreads kept giving me like all my favourite books and then I was like, WAIT NO. Horror is my biggest weakness. Like I don’t even care if it’s the cheesy/cliche horror. I need it in my life. Ooh yay! I hope you enjoy them.

      1. Oh no, imma do it! I just…..man, it’s gonna be rough I just know it!!

That’s how I am with horror! Books, movies, games. Now, I love cheesy horror, but if a movie is just really bad I can get disappointed lol The Paranormal Activity movies come to mind. They’re entertaining, but scary? I must disagree with that.

        1. Haha, yay! I can’t wait to see your post. Good luck 😉

Oh yeah, I definitely understand. I quite liked the first Paranormal Activity movie, it wasn’t scary, but I appreciated how realistic it was – to a degree anyway lmao. The rest of the franchise was so unneeded though.

  3. Thank you for the tag, honey! I did this one recently so probably won’t do it again, but…

    1. I should probably reread Beautiful Malice eventually, too.
    2. Also, Illuminae. Because Gemina comes out soooooon.
    3. I used to be REALLY into R.L. Stine books…I should pick him up again in the future, but… Ehhh, so many other things to read!
