Weekly Wrap Up: #1

Weekly Wrap Up

I’m combining Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post into a kind of weekly wrap up. I’m thinking of maybe doing this from now on? Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tyngas Reviews, visit the official launch page to find out more. Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer see rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter or just a wonderful weekend if you don’t celebrate it. I had a fantastic time doing a 2 day paranormal investigation with another team. My team ended up sleeping at the location overnight and I didn’t get home until 6:30am. Not much sleeping happened, but it was so worth it. Also, the Australian Football League season has officially started and the team I support won their game today and I am so stoked. Last year we made it to the Grand Final, but couldn’t get the win so I’m hoping we do one better this year 🙂

BOOKS

I HAVE PHYSICAL COPIES THIS WEEK YAYYY!!!!!!

BOOKS!!! Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

The Sidekicks by Will Kostakis My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier

I had an ebook of Rebel of the Sands, but how could I resist that cover? I was planning on reading The Sidekicks at some point because Will is an Australian author, but then I watched an interview he did and he was hilarious and I was like “yeah, I need to read this now”. My Sister Rosa gives me major Orphan vibes and Justine is another Australian author and I’m so excited!

EBOOKS

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh Night Film by Marisha Pessl

I want to try and read TWATD before the end of next month. I also got Night Film because I love that there’s different formats of documents throughout it. I read a couple chapters like I normally do when I first buy a book and it was really interesting.

TO BE READ

So I attempted to make a March/April TBR. I guess it’s technically more an April TBR now since March is just about over, but I created a shelf on Goodreads. I realise it’s quite ambitious and obviously I’m not going to read all of them and I haven’t even included any classics in here. It’s just a general idea and I might not even stick to the plans because I’m normally a spur of the moment reader, but hopefully I’ll get through a few of them!

To Be Read

TO REVIEW

These books were provided by the publisher and/or author in exchange for an honest review.

The Labyrinthians by J.A. Armitage Death House by Carole Avila

The War In The Wall by A. Lotus True Born by L.E. Sterling

But Lauren, didn’t you say you were putting yourself on a Netgalley ban?” I hear you ask. Well in my defense True Born was one I requested a while back and I only just got approved for it and The Labyrinthians looked like my type of book and I couldn’t resist. Don’t judge me. Death House and The War in the Wall were provided by the authors so they don’t count 😉

  1. Fab Sunday post – I really enjoyed reading it and like how you combined a couple of memes together. I like the idea of making a shelf on GR for the books you plan to read in a month – I might start and do that too as I’m sure I must waste hours trying to decide what to read next whenever I finish a book!

Hope you enjoy all your new books 🙂

  2. Ooo! I’ve read Rebel of the Sands and it’s good. Not amazing, but fairly good. I’m listening to The Wrath and The Dawn on audiobook and I’m just not as into it as I hoped I would be. There was a ton of hype around that book and its impending sequel but unless the book picks up (I’m more then 50% through) I don’t think I’ll read it. D:

    1. I originally wasn’t sure whether to read it or not, but I was intrigued by the hype so I had to check it out for myself, haha. Ah that’s a shame about TWATD. I have heard mixed reviews about it! I’m hoping I’ll like it, but I’ll guess we see!

  3. I try and avoid NetGalley but I got auto approved for an awesome publisher and they keep putting out good books which would be plain rude not to download, well that is my excuse anyway!!

Rebel of the Sands has a beautiful cover as does the Wrath and the Dawn, I have yet to read them, to be honest if I had the physical books I would probably never read them, just take lots of pics of them to put on #bookstagram!

    1. Ooh that’s so awesome! I haven’t been auto-approved yet, but I just have no self-control. I’m trying to be better though because I just end up with so many books and I don’t have time to read them all.

Haha, that’s understandable 😉 I am all about those pretty book aesthetics.

  4. I’ve seen a few different blogs who combine StS and Sunday Posts into one–definitely not a bad idea, especially for those who aren’t crazy like me and don’t post every day! XD

You picked up some AWESOME looking books this week…and added MANY awesome books to your “tbr” shelf! Fingers crossed you enjoy the ones that you pick up! (I love Goodreads…it’s an addiction. I just can’t. stop. adding. books! XD I need help.)

Here’s my Sunday Post. Happy book-ing!

    1. Haha, you’re not crazy 😉 I think my problem is that I just procrastinate so much and before I know it the day is almost over and I’m like “oops, I forgot to post”. I should start trying to schedule posts, but I’m just so disorganised haha.

Thanks so much 😀 And I feel you on the Goodreads obsession. I should probably ban myself from that 😂

      1. LMAO but but but GOOOOOOODREADS is goooooooood! >.<' (you know you have a problem when… )

I know what you mean about procrastination! There's just never enough time in a day for me to get everything I WANT to done, so I'm always like… "Oh, shoot, I was going to do that!" XD

          1. Ugh. I relate to the aimless scrolling SO. HARD. I’ve actually sort of broken my tumblr habit lately…I think because I’m so busy finding blogs on bloglovin to comment on/interact with. I don’t get much interaction over on the tumbles, so. No loss in my world!

  5. Brilliant haul! Rebel of the Sands looks so good. I keep meaning to add that to my TBR pile. Glad you reminded me! Hope you make it through your TBR pile. I swear they keep getting bigger and bigger 😉 Enjoy your books. Here’s ours: Bibliojunkies Happy Reading! ~ Bel
