It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
I won’t post the blurb because it could be spoiler-y if you haven’t read the series, but basically it’s about a dystopian future were kids start dying from an unknown disease and the ones that are left start developing powers. I absolutely love this series SO much and I highly recommend it if you’re into YA Dystopian/Sci-Fi. I’m excited to see how Alexandra ties it all together, but I also don’t want it to end!! I’m only up to chapter nine and I’ve already cried four times. The start of this book is a lot slower than the others in the series, but you can feel that it’s building up to something really big and I’m so excited. I love all the characters in this series so much, I don’t know how I’m going to feel when I have to let them go.
Also, sometimes I do a thing where I start reading a few lines of all the new books I’ve recently aquired to see if anything pulls me in and I read the first chapter of The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins
Kill the beast. Win the girl.
A strange beast stirs fear in the kingdom of Lochlanach, terrorizing towns with its brutality and hunger. In an act of desperation, a proclamation is sent to all of Eurona—kill the creature and win the ultimate prize: the daughter of King Lochson’s hand in marriage.
Princess Aerity understands her duty to the kingdom though it pains her to imagine marrying a stranger. It would be foolish to set her sights on any particular man in the great hunt, but when a brooding local hunter, Paxton Seabolt, catches her attention, there’s no denying the unspoken lure between them…or his mysterious resentment.
Paxton is not keen on marriage. Nor does he care much for spoiled royals and their arcane laws. He’s determined to keep his focus on the task at hand—ridding the kingdom of the beast and protecting his family—yet Princess Aerity continues to challenge his notions with her unpredictability and charm. But as past secrets collide with present desires, dire choices threaten everything Paxton holds dear.
Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tale, “The Singing Bone,” New York Times bestselling author Wendy Higgins delivers a dark fantasy filled with rugged hunters, romantic tension, outlawed magic, and a princess willing to risk all to save her people.
Despite High Fantasy not being my go-to genre (mostly because they intemidate the hell out of me) I have NOT been able to stop thinking about it so I think that might be bumped up into a higher place on my TBR pile because as you know my self control is non existent.
